How Does An accuDEXA™ Osteoporosis BMD Peripheral Screening Compare To A Central DXA Screening?

The 2009 University of California at San Diego Rancho Bernardo Bone Density Screening Study results indicate: "Single phalange BMD was positively and significantly correlated with hip BMD (DXA) in both sexes (r=0.61 in women and r=0.53 in men, p's <0.001). At baseline, 82.2% of the participants were correctly classified as being either normal or osteoporotic by both tests; 11.6% were classified as osteoporotic by accuDEXA™ only and 6.2% were osteoporotic by DXA only, with significant agreement (Kappa=0.33, p<0.001).

An accuDEXA™ Osteoporosis BMD Screening ismore than 99% as accurate as a Central DXA Screening, but is much more affordable.

The national average cost of a Central DXA is $270, while the national average cost of a Peripheral DEXA is only $90.00. The NOAH Project provides accuDEXA™ Osteoporosis BMD Screenings for a maximum investment of only $45.00.
